About Tracy King
While growing up in Alexandria, Virginia my father was an avid photographer, photographing our family as well as his many travels overseas as a Soviet Specialist for the Department of State. I developed a love of photography from my father’s numerous and story laden slide shows. Using his camera, I took my first photography courses in high school with my work being chosen by the department for inclusion in my first calendar publication.
My love for travel developed when I was a child living in the former Soviet Union and more recently abroad in Japan and across the United States in Texas and California. Having completed my studies at Virginia Tech (B.S. Finance) and retiring my cake decorating business, I photographed my first weddings while living in California in the mid 90s. After nearly 10 years as a successful wedding photojournalist I retired from weddings in 2007.
Happily settled along the West River and the Chesapeake Bay with my family and two water loving dogs since 1998, I support my community and local area music by documenting life along the Chesapeake Bay and various recording artists during their live performances. My Chesapeake Bay images have been published internationally, nationally, and locally on the covers of and inside calendars, directories, magazines, and the Annapolis Capital Gazette. My Living Portraits of the Chesapeake framed images and note cards have been featured in local galleries and retailers. My concert photography can be found on the official web sites of
the recording artists.
On February 12, 2006 a feature article on my photographs and wedding photography studio was published in the Sunday Lifestyle section of the Annapolis Capital Gazette.
